Alulvan Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFGFHH IJKJLL LMNMOO OOPOL

The sun is clear of bird and cloudA
The grass shines windless grey and stillB
In dusky ruin the owl dreams onC
The cuckoo echoes on the hillB
Yet soft along Alulvan's walksD
The ghost at noonday stalksD
-
His eyes in shadow of his hatE
Stare on the ruins of his houseF
His cloak up fasten'd with a broochG
Of faded velvet grey as mouseF
Brushes the roses as he goesH
Yet wavers not one roseH
-
The wild birds in a cloud fly upI
From their sweet feeding in the fruitJ
The droning of the bees and fliesK
Rises gradual as a luteJ
Is it for fear the birds are flownL
And shrills the insect droneL
-
Thick is the ivy o'er AlulvanL
And crisp with summer heat its turfM
Far far across its empty pasturesN
Alulvan's sands are white with surfM
And he himself is grey as seaO
Watching beneath an elder treeO
-
All night the fretful shrill BansheeO
Lurks in the chambers' dark festoonsO
Calling for ever o'er garden and riverP
Through magpie changing of the moonsO
'Alulvan O alas AlulvanL
The doom of lone Alulvan '-
