The Hawthorn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBADCD DEFE

BY the road near her father s dwellingA
There groweth a hawthorn treeB
Its blossoms are fair and fragrantC
As the love that I cast from meB
It is all a bloom this morningA
In the sunny silentnessD
And grows by the roadside radiantC
As a bride in her bridal dressD
-
But ah me at sight of its blossomsD
No pleasant memories startE
I see but the thorns beneath themF
And the thorns they pierce my heartE
