The Dove Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGF HIJI KLM NIOI

Within his office smilingA
Sat JOSEPH CHAMBERLAINB
But all the screws of BirminghamC
Were working in his brainD
-
The heart within his bosomE
Was as a millstone hardF
His eye was cold and cruelG
His face was frozen lardF
-
He had the map of AfricaH
Upon his table spreadI
He took a brush and with the sameJ
He painted it blood redI
-
He heard no moan of widowsK
But only the hurrahL
Of charging lines and squadronsM
And 'Rule Britannia '-
-
A white dove to his windowN
With branch of olive spedI
He took a ruler in his handO
And struck the white dove deadI
