Sixty To Sixteen Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBABAB ABABABAB ABCBABAB ABABABAB

If I were young as you SixteenA
And you were old as IB
I would not be as I have beenC
You would not be so shyB
We should not watch with careless mienA
The golden days go byB
If I were young as you SixteenA
And you were old as IB
-
The years of youth are yours SixteenA
Such years of old had IB
But time has set his seal betweenA
Dark eyebrow and dark eyeB
Sere grow the leaves that once were greenA
The song turns to a sighB
Ah very young are you SixteenA
And very old am IB
-
Red bloom times come and go SixteenA
With snow soft feet but IB
Shall be no more as I have beenC
In times of bloom gone byB
For dimmer grows the pleasant sceneA
Beneath the pleasant skyB
The world is growing old SixteenA
The weary world and IB
-
Ah would that once again SixteenA
A kissing mouth had IB
The days would gaily go I weenA
Though death should stand anighB
If springtime s green were evergreenA
If Love would never dieB
And I were young as you SixteenA
And you were old as IB
