Omarism Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DEFFGG HHIIJJ KLMMCC NNIIOO PPQQAA RRSSCC

With pen in hand and pipe in mouthA
And claret iced to quench my drouthA
I sit upon my balconyB
That overlooks the sparkling seaB
Serenly gay and cool and blandC
With pipe in mouth and pen in handC
-
This life I think is beautifulD
When at the jug I take a pullE
The harbor shines like azure silkF
The claret tastes like mother's milkF
Then to the pipe I turn againG
And then I trifle with the penG
-
The red faced neighbors townward goH
The air is in a furnace glowH
I watch them scorching as they passI
Like flies beneath a burning glassI
Each clutching at the red hot hourJ
For coin their folly turns me sourJ
-
The Business Man may fret and sweatK
In his black coat for etiquetteL
And grow in shop and office oldM
And gather wrinkles with his goldM
I sit in shirt sleeves cool and blandC
With pipe in mouth and pen in handC
-
The white clouds idle they as IN
Like dreaming gods at leisure lieN
Upon the hill crests Smoke upcurlsI
From chimneys lazily and girlsI
Below me with bare brown arms fineO
Are pegging linen on a lineO
-
The great ships from the world outsideP
Steam slowly in with stately prideP
Their giant screws now gently spinQ
'Tis good to watch them gliding inQ
From East and West and North and SouthA
With jug in hand and pipe in mouthA
-
These visions fill me with contentR
And I remember not the rentR
When with cool breezes comes the nightS
It will be time enough to writeS
Then you shall see me start the bandC
With pipe in mouth and pen in handC
