Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE GHHG IJJI KLLK MNNM

Love is the sunlight of the soulA
That shining on the silken tress d headB
Of her we love around it seems to shedB
A golden angel aureoleA
-
And all her ways seem sweeter waysC
Than those of other women in that lightD
She has no portion with the pallid nightD
But is a part of all fair daysC
-
Joy goes where she goes and good dreamsE
Her smile is tender as an old romanceF
Of Love that dies not and her soft eye s glanceF
Like sunshine set to music seemsE
-
Queen of our fate is she but crownedG
With purple hearts ease for her womanhoodH
There is no place so poor where she has stoodH
But evermore is holy groundG
-
An angel from the heaven aboveI
Would not be fair to us as she is fairJ
She holds us in a mesh of silken hairJ
This one sweet woman whom we loveI
-
We pray thee Love our souls to steepK
In dreams wherein thy myrtle flowerethL
So when the rose leaves shiver feeling DeathL
Pass by we may remain asleepK
-
Asleep with poppies in our handsM
From all the world and all its cares apartN
Cheek close to cheek heart beating against heartN
While through Life s sandglass run the sandsM
