Disillusion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBAB CDCDCD EEE EEE BEBEBE FBFBFB GCDCDC

For some forty years and overA
Poets had with me their wayB
And they made me think that SorrowC
Owned the Night and owned the DayB
And the corpse beneath the cloverA
Had a hopeful word to sayB
-
And they made me think that SorrowC
Was the Shadow in the SunD
And they made me think To morrowC
Was a gift to everyoneD
And the days I used to borrowC
Till my credit now is doneD
-
And they told me softly sweetlyE
That when Life had lost its gleeE
I could be consoled completelyE
-
By the Forest or the SeaE
And they wrote their rhymes so neatlyE
That they quite deluded meE
-
But when Sorrow is at sorestB
And the heart weeps silentlyE
Is there healing in the ForestB
Is there solace in the SeaE
And the God whom thou adorestB
Has He any help for theeE
-
Does it soothe the spent man dyingF
That the stars are shining brightB
O'er the field where he is lyingF
And the moon with all her lightB
Does she help his bare soul flyingF
Through the vast and lonely NightB
-
Give to me the grasp of true manG
Though his state be high or lowC
Give to me the kiss of womanD
Let your Seas and Forests goC
There is nothing but the humanD
Touch can heal the human woeC
