Day And Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIH JKLK MNGN

DAY goeth bold in cloth of goldA
A royal bridegroom heB
But Night in jewelled purple walksC
A Queen of MysteryB
Day filleth up his loving cupD
With vintage golden clearE
But Night her ebon chalice crownsF
With wine as pale as FearE
-
Day drinks to Life to ruddy LifeG
And holds a kingly feastH
Night drinks to Death and while she drinksI
Day rises in the EastH
-
They may not meet they may not greetJ
Each keeps a separate wayK
Day knoweth not the stars of NightL
Nor Night the Star of DayK
-
So runs the reign of Other TwainM
Behold the Preacher saithN
Death knoweth not the Light of LifeG
Nor Life the Light of DeathN
