A Vision Of Youth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK LMLM GNGN BOBOPQPQ JLJL RJRJOBOB

A horseman on a hilltop greenA
Drew rein and wound his hornB
So bright he looked he might have beenC
The Herald of the MornB
His steed was of the sovran strainD
In Fancy s meadows bredE
And pride was in his tossing maneD
And triumph in his treadE
-
The rider s eyes like jewels glowedF
The World was in his handG
As down the woodland way he rodeF
When Spring was in the landG
-
From golden hour to golden hourH
For him the woodland sangI
And from the heart of every flowerH
A singing fairy sprangI
-
He rode along with rein so freeJ
And as he rode the BlueK
Mysterious Bird of FantasyJ
Ever before him flewK
-
He rode by cot and castle dimL
Through all the greenland gayM
Bright eyes through casements glanced at himL
He laughed and rode awayM
-
The world with sunshine was afloodG
And glad were maid and manN
And through his throbbing veins the bloodG
In keen sweet shudders ranN
-
-
His steed tossed head with fiery scornB
And stamped and snuffed the airO
As though he heard a sudden hornB
Of far off battle blareO
Erect the rider sat awhileP
With flashing eyes and thenQ
Turned slowly sighing with a smileP
weary world of menQ
-
For aye the Bird of FantasyJ
Sang magic songs to himL
And deeper and deeper still rode heJ
Into the Forest DimL
-
-
That rider with his face aglowR
With joy of life I seeJ
In dreams Ah years and years agoR
He parted ways with meJ
Yet sometimes when the days are drearO
And all the world forlornB
From out the dim wood s heart I hearO
The echo of his hornB
