A Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAABBB CCC DDD

The Sun burns fiercely down the skiesA
The sea is full of flashing eyesA
The waves glide shoreward serpentwiseA
And fawn with foamy tongues on starkB
Gray rocks each sharp toothed as a sharkB
And hiss in clefts and channels darkB
-
Blood purple soon the waters growC
As though drowned sea kings fought belowC
Forgotten fights of long agoC
-
The gray owl Dusk its wings has spreadD
The sun sinks in a blossom bedD
Of poppy clouds the day is deadD
