They Lived Enamoured Of The Lovely Moon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDECE

They lived enamoured of the lovely moonA
The dawn and twilight on their gentle lakeB
Then Passion marvellously born did shakeB
Their breast and drave them into the mid noonA
Their lives did shrink to one desire and soonA
They rose fire eyed to follow in the wakeB
Of one eternal thought when sudden brakeB
Their hearts They died in miserable swoonA
Of all their agony not a sound was heardC
The glory of the Earth is more than theyD
She asks her lovely image of the dayD
A flower grows a million boughs are greenE
And over moving ocean waves the birdC
Chases his shadow and is no more seenE
