Be Still Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABAABCDDECF

Be still The Hanging Gardens were a dreamA
That over Persian roses flew to kissB
The curl d lashes of SemiramisB
Troy never was nor green Skamander streamA
Provence and Troubadour are merest liesB
The glorious hair of Venice was a beamA
Made within Titian's eye The sunsets seemA
The world is very old and nothing isB
Be still Thou foolish thing thou canst not wakeC
Nor thy tears wedge thy soldered lids apartD
But patter in the darkness of thy heartD
Thy brain is plagued Thou art a frighted owlE
Blind with the light of life thou 'ldst not forsakeC
And Error loves and nourishes thy soulF
