That last Saturday,
When we at last sat down
Bodies trembling in trepidation
The lips, no wise
We held on tight to our coffee cups
Shivering in our warm winter coats
You see, it has taken so long for us to reach where we were
The place we say goodbye at last
Why goodbye we seem to ask?
Eyes seeking answers
Lips too heavy to move
Did we wait too long?
Were we dead to the stirrings that woke winters ago?
You took my luggage bravely
Putting some cash on the table as we walked towards the “train of no return”
You see, you were brave and I was not
I wanted so much but I held back
Is this truly goodbye?
Goodbye to a love unfulfilled?
Or did I imagine you felt same?
Were we ever on the same train?
