My dear Everybody	A
The other day I lunched at a place	B
Where there was a pretty lady	A
During the course of the talk	C
The pretty lady said to me	A
You see Everybody is out of town	D
At present	E
I said Who is Everybody	A
Whereupon the pretty lady replied	F
Well er Everybody	A
I said Quite so	G
But don't you think it is rather	H
Fortunate that Everybody is out of town	D
And the pretty lady answered and said	I
No	G
I conclude therefore	J
That you Everybody	A
Must on the whole be rather nice	K
I hope you are	L
For Everybody should be rather nice	K
Should they not	M
And when I come to think of it	N
The circumstance that I heard of you	O
The other day	P
Has nothing prodigiously unusual about it	N
Really and truly	A
One is always hearing about you	O
One is believe me	A
For example the paragraph writers assure me	A
That Everybody is reading	Q
Miss So and So's great novel	R
Also that Everybody will join with them	S
In congratulating Miss So and So on her approaching marriage	T
Also that Everybody is in the Highlands	U
That Everybody anticipates a good season	V
That Everybody keeps a houseboat	W
That Everybody sups at the Carlton after the theatre	H
That Everybody recognises in Lord Salisbury a great statesman	V
That Everybody plays golf	X
That Everybody who can afford it dresses well	Y
That Everybody knows the King has tact	Z
That Everybody thinks the Queen grows younger as she grows older	H
That Everybody hopes Sir Thomas Lipton	V
Will win the America Cup	A2
And so on	B2
Which is well	Y
I don't mind in the least	C2
Why should I	D2
Yet if I were Everybody	A
I imagine that I should not do things	E2
Quite in the same way that you do them	S
To my mind your great defect is that you do things	E2
Not because you like to do them	S
But simply because	F2
Everybody does them	S
This is an excellent reason	V
From your point of view	O
But to me it seems a trifle stupid	G2
Who is reading Miss So and So's book	H2

Why are they reading it	N
Because Everybody is reading it	N
Do they like Miss So and So's book	H2
They are not quite sure	I2
But Everybody says it is good	J2
And therefore Everybody must read it	N
Why are frock coats worn	K2
Because Everybody wears them	S
