On The Number Three Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDEFFAAGGFFHI| Beauty rests not in one fix'd Place | A |
| But seems to reign in every Face | A |
| 'Tis nothing sure but Fancy then | B |
| In various Forms bewitching Men | B |
| Or is it Shape and Colour fram'd | C |
| Proportion just and woman nam'd | C |
| If Fancy only rul'd in Love | D |
| Why shou'd it then so strongly move | E |
| Or why shou'd all that Look agree | F |
| To own its mighty Pow'r in three | F |
| In Three it shews a different Face | A |
| Each shining with peculiar Grace | A |
| Kindred a Native Likeness gives | G |
| Which pleases as in All it lives | G |
| And where the Features disagree | F |
| We praise the dear Variety | F |
| Then Beauty surely ne'er was yet | H |
| So much unlike it self and so complete | I |
