A Hymn For Noon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHAAII EEDDJJIKLLMMNNDDOPQQThe sun is swiftly mounted high | A |
It glitters in the southern sky | A |
Its beams with force and glory beat | B |
And fruitful earth is fill'd with heat | B |
Father also with Thy fire | C |
Warm the cold the dead desire | C |
And make the sacred love of Thee | D |
Within my soul a sun to me | D |
Let it shine so fairly bright | E |
That nothing else be took for light | E |
That worldly charms be seen to fade | F |
And in its lustre find a shade | F |
Let it strongly shine within | G |
To scatter all the clouds of sin | G |
That drive when gusts of passion rise | H |
And intercept it from our eyes | H |
Let its glory more than vie | A |
With the sun that lights the sky | A |
Let it swiftly mount in air | I |
Mount with that and leave it there | I |
And soar with more aspiring flight | E |
To realms of everlasting light | E |
Thus while here I'm forc'd to be | D |
I daily wish to live with Thee | D |
And feel that union which Thy love | J |
Will after death complete above | J |
From my soul I send my prayer | I |
Great creator bow Thine ear | K |
Thou for whose propitious sway | L |
The world was taught to see the day | L |
Who spake the word and earth begun | M |
And show'd its beauties in the sun | M |
With pleasure I Thy creatures view | N |
And would with good affection too | N |
Good affection sweetly free | D |
Loose from them and move to Thee | D |
O teach me due returns to give | O |
And to Thy glory let me live | P |
And then my days shall shine the more | Q |
Or pass more blessed than before | Q |
