A Hymn For Morning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFAAGGHHII JJGGKKLLMMLLAALLLLNN OOPP

See the star that leads the dayA
Rising shoots a golden rayA
To make the shades of darkness goB
From heaven above and earth belowB
And warn us early with the sightC
To leave the beds of silent nightC
From a heart sincere and soundD
From its very deepest groundD
Send devotion up on highE
Wing'd with heat to reach the skyE
See the time for sleep has runF
Rise before or with the sunF
Lift thine hands and humbly prayA
The fountain of eternal dayA
That as the light serenely fairG
Illustrates all the tracts of airG
The sacred spirit so may restH
With quick'ning beams upon thy breastH
And kindly clean it all withinI
From darker blemishes of sinI
And shine with grace until we viewJ
The realm it gilds with glory tooJ
See the day that dawns in airG
Brings along its toil and careG
From the lap of night it springsK
With heaps of business on its wingsK
Prepare to meet them in a mindL
That bows submissively resign'dL
That would to works appointed fallM
And knows that God has order'd allM
And whether with a small repastL
We break our sober morning fastL
Or in our thoughts and houses layA
The future methods of the dayA
Or early walk abroad to meetL
Our business with industrious feetL
Whate'er we think whate'er we doL
His glory still be kept in viewL
O Giver of eternal blissN
Heavenly Father grant me thisN
Grant it all as well as meO
All whose hearts are fix'd on TheeO
Who revere Thy Son aboveP
Who Thy sacred Spirit loveP
