| The twilight will the night forerun | B |

| May cause a blinder night within | B |
| And whether pleasing vapours rise | A |
| Which gently dim the closing eyes | A |
| Which make the weary members bless'd | D |
| With sweet refreshment in their rest | D |
| Or whether spirits in the brain | B |
| Dispel their soft embrace again | B |
| And on my watchful bed I stay | E |
| Forsook by sleep and waiting day | E |

| When grace and love in one agree | I |
