A Hymn For Evening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCBBAADDBBEEFFGG HHIIJKLMNNBBDDOOPP

The beam repelling mists ariseA
And evening spreads obscurer skiesA
The twilight will the night forerunB
And night itself be soon begunB
Upon thy knees devoutly bowC
And pray the Lord of glory nowC
To fill thy breast or deadly sinB
May cause a blinder night withinB
And whether pleasing vapours riseA
Which gently dim the closing eyesA
Which make the weary members bless'dD
With sweet refreshment in their restD
Or whether spirits in the brainB
Dispel their soft embrace againB
And on my watchful bed I stayE
Forsook by sleep and waiting dayE
Be God for ever in my viewF
And never He forsake me tooF
But still as day concludes in nightG
To break again with new born lightG
His wondrous bounty let me findH
With still a more enlighten'd mindH
When grace and love in one agreeI
Grace from God and love from meI
Grace that will from heaven inspireJ
Love that seals it with desireK
Grace and love that mingle beamsL
And fill me with encreasing flamesM
Thou that hast Thy palace farN
Above the moon and every starN
Thou that sittest on a throneB
To which the night was never knownB
Regard my voice and make me bless'dD
By kindly granting its requestD
If thoughts on Thee my soul employO
My darkness will afford me joyO
'Till Thou shalt call and I shall soarP
And part with darkness evermoreP
