Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDD EEFFDDCCBBAAGGHHFF IIJJKKLLMMEE

Long to the world have all the mouths of FameA
O Paganini thunder'd forth thy nameA
Nations have vied their plausive voice to raiseB
And swell the general chorus of thy praiseB
Though not so loud more dear the applause to theeC
Of all the favour'd sons of harmonyC
Who with one full consent admiring ownD
Thee as their master monarch thee aloneD
And humbly bow before thee on thy throneD
-
O'er all musicians thou stand'st far apartE
Thou hast created for thyself an artE
As in the natural world around the sunF
The planets their career of brightness runF
Each moving in an orbit of its ownD
And all obeying laws to science knownD
Musicians thus each blest with his degreeC
Of talent by the God of harmonyC
Shine forth distinguish'd in their several waysB
While every one the rules of art obeysB
We calculate the merits of their nameA
And pay them their proportion'd share of fameA
Not thus in Honour's region thou career'stG
Thou comet like to fancy's ken appear'stG
Like comet blazing in its bold careerH
That leaves behind the planetary sphereH
And rushes towards the centre of the sunF
Till with Apollo's self it seems but oneF
-
A Genius an Original art thouI
Such as the astounded world ne'er heard till nowI
When thou dost take thy magic bow in handJ
What mortal ear the enchantment can withstandJ
Transported we admire thy peerless skillK
Thou movest our feelings passions at thy willK
With fear we tremble we with anger glowL
Soft from our eyes the tears of pity flowL
Or when thou play'st a gay fantastic strainM
From mirth and laughter who can then refrainM
Such is thy music's power to rule the heartE
Thou may'st be call'd the Shakspeare of thine artE
