When The Wine-cup Is Smiling. (italian Air.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCACA CDCDCECF

When the wine cup is smiling before usA
And we pledge round to hearts that are true boy trueB
Then the sky of this life opens o'er usA
And Heaven gives a glimpse of its blueB
Talk of Adam in Eden recliningC
We are better far better off thus boy thusA
For him but two bright eyes were shiningC
See what numbers are sparkling for usA
-
When on one side the grape juice is dancingC
While on t'other a blue eye beams boy beamsD
'Tis enough 'twixt the wine and the glancingC
To disturb even a saint from his dreamsD
Yet tho' life like a river is flowingC
I care not how fast it goes on boy onE
So the grape on its bank is still growingC
And Love lights the waves as they runF
