War Song. Remember The Glories Of Brien The Brave.[1] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGHIHI JKLKMNMN

Remember the glories of Brien the braveA
Tho' the days of the hero are o'erB
Tho' lost to Mononia and cold in the graveA
He returns to Kinkora no moreC
That star of the field which so often hath pouredD
Its beam on the battle is setE
But enough of its glory remains on each swordD
To light us to victory yetE
-
Mononia when Nature embellished the tintF
Of thy fields and thy mountains so fairG
Did she ever intend that a tyrant should printF
The footstep of slavery thereG
No Freedom whose smile we shall never resignH
Go tell our invaders the DanesI
That 'tis sweeter to bleed for an age at thy shrineH
Than to sleep but a moment in chainsI
-
Forget not our wounded companions who stoodJ
In the day of distress by our sideK
While the moss of the valley grew red with their bloodL
They stirred not but conquered and diedK
That sun which now blesses our arms with his lightM
Saw them fall upon Ossory's plainN
Oh let him not blush when he leaves us to nightM
To find that they fell there in vainN
