Rhyme Scheme: A ABACDEDE FGFGHIHI FFFFFJFJ

Remember the Glories of Brien the BraveA
-
-
Remember the glories of Brien the braveA
Though the days of the hero are o'erB
Though lost to Mononia and cold to the graveA
He returns to Kinkora no moreC
That star of the field which so often hath pour'dD
Its beam on the battle is setE
But enough of its glory remains on each swordD
To light us to victory yetE
-
Mononia when Nature embellish'd the tintF
Of thy fields and thy mountains so fairG
Did she ever intend that a tyrant should printF
The footstep of slavery thereG
No Freedom whose smile we shall never resignH
Go tell our invaders the DanesI
That 'tis sweeter to bleed for an age at thy shrineH
Than to sleep but a moment in chainsI
-
Forget not our wounded companions who stooodF
In the day of distress by our sideF
While the moss of the valley grew red with their bloodF
They stirr'd not but conquer'd and diedF
That sun which now blesses our arms with his lightF
Saw them fall upon Ossory's plainJ
Oh let him not blush when he leaves us to nightF
To find that they fell there in vainJ
