The World Was Husht Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IFIFJKJK

The world was husht the moon aboveA
Sailed thro' ether slowlyB
When near the casement of my loveA
Thus I whispered lowlyB
Awake awake how canst thou sleepC
The field I seek to morrowD
Is one where man hath fame to reapC
And woman gleans but sorrowD
-
Let battle's field be what it mayE
Thus spoke a voice replyingF
Think not thy love while thou'rt awayE
Will sit here idly sighingF
No woman's soul if not for fameG
For love can brave all dangerH
Then forth from out the casement cameG
A plumed and armed strangerH
-
A stranger No 'twas she the maidI
Herself before me beamingF
With casque arrayed and falchion bladeI
Beneath her girdle gleamingF
Close side by side in freedom's fightJ
That blessed morning found usK
In Victory's light we stood ere nightJ
And Love the morrow crowned usK
