The Shrine. To ...... Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFFGGHHMy fates had destined me to rove | A |
A long long pilgrimage of love | B |
And many an altar on my way | C |
Has lured my pious steps to stay | C |
For if the saint was young and fair | D |
I turned and sung my vespers there | D |
This from a youthful pilgrim's fire | E |
Is what your pretty saints require | E |
To pass nor tell a single bead | F |
With them would be profane indeed | F |
But trust me all this young devotion | G |
Was but to keep my zeal in motion | G |
And every humbler altar past | H |
I now have reached THE SHRINE at last | H |
