The Musical Box Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDE FGFHIJIJE KLKLMBMB

Look here said Rose with laughing eyesA
Within this box by magic hidB
A tuneful Sprite imprisoned liesA
Who sings to me whene'er he's bidB
Tho' roving once his voice and wingC
He'll now lie still the whole day longD
Till thus I touch the magic springC
Then hark how sweet and blithe his songD
A symphonyE
-
Ah Rose I cried the poet's layF
Must ne'er even Beauty's slave becomeG
Thro' earth and air his song may strayF
If all the while his heart's at homeH
And tho' in freedom's air he dwellI
Nor bond nor chain his spirit knowsJ
Touch but the spring thou knowst so wellI
And hark how sweet the love song flowsJ
A symphonyE
-
Thus pleaded I for freedom's rightK
But when young Beauty takes the fieldL
And wise men seek defence in flightK
The doom of poets is to yieldL
No more my heart the enchantress bravesM
I'm now in Beauty's prison hidB
The Sprite and I are fellow slavesM
And I too sing whene'er I'm bidB
