The Legacy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGHGIJIJ JKJKFLFL

When in death I shall calmly reclineA
O bear my heart to my mistress dearB
Tell her it lived upon smiles and wineA
Of the brightest hue while it linger'd hereC
Bid her not shed one tear of sorrowD
To sully a heart so brilliant and lightE
But balmy drops of the red grape borrowD
To bathe the relic from morn till nightE
-
When the light of my song is o'erF
Then take my harp to your ancient hallG
Hang it up at that friendly doorH
Where weary travellers love to callG
Then if some bard who roams forsakenI
Revive its soft note in passing alongJ
Oh let one thought of its master wakenI
Your warmest smile for the child of songJ
-
Keep this cup which is now o'erflowingJ
To grace your revel when I'm at restK
Never oh never its balm bestowingJ
On lips that beauty hath seldom blestK
But when some warm devoted loverF
To her he adores shall bathe its brimL
Then then my spirit around shall hoverF
And hallow each drop that foams for himL
