The Bird, Let Loose. (air.--beethoven.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFDG DG

The bird let loose in eastern skiesA
When hastening fondly homeB
Ne'er stoops to earth her wing nor fliesA
Where idle warblers roamB
But high she shoots thro' air and lightC
Above all low delayD
Where nothing earthly bounds her flightC
Nor shadow dims her wayD
-
So grant me GOD from every careE
And stain of passion freeF
Aloft thro' Virtue's purer airE
To hold my course to TheeF
No sin to cloud no lure to stayD
My Soul as home she springsG
-
Thy Sunshine on her joyful wayD
Thy Freedom in her wingsG
