Song Of Innisfail Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFAAAA DGDGAHAH

They came from a land beyond the seaA
And now o'er the western mainB
Set sail in their good ships gallantlyA
From the sunny land of SpainB
Oh where's the isle we've seen in dreamsC
Our destined home or graveD
Thus sung they as by the morning's beamsC
They swept the Atlantic waveD
-
And lo where afar o'er ocean shinesE
A sparkle of radiant greenF
As though in that deep lay emerald minesE
Whose light through the wave was seenF
'Tis Innisfail 'tis InnisfailA
Rings o'er the echoing seaA
While bending to heaven the warriors hailA
That home of the brave and freeA
-
Then turn'd they unto the Eastern waveD
Where now their Day God's eyeG
A look of such sunny omen gaveD
As lighted up sea and skyG
Nor frown was seen through sky or seaA
Nor tear o'er leaf or sodH
When first on their Isle of DestinyA
Our great forefathers trodH
