Silence Is In Our Festal Halls Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGHIHI EJEJKLKL MNMNOPOP

Silence is in our festal hallsA
Sweet son of song thy course is o'erB
In vain on thee sad Erin callsA
Her minstrel's voice responds no moreC
All silent as the Eolian shellD
Sleeps at the close of some bright dayE
When the sweet breeze that waked its swellD
At sunny morn hath died awayE
-
Yet at our feasts thy spirit longF
Awaked by music's spell shall riseG
For name so link'd with deathless songF
Partakes its charm and never diesG
And even within the holy faneH
When music wafts the soul to heavenI
One thought to him whose earliest strainH
Was echoed there shall long be givenI
-
But where is now the cheerful dayE
The social night when by thy sideJ
He who now weaves this parting layE
His skilless voice with thine alliedJ
And sung those songs whose every toneK
When bard and minstrel long have pastL
Shall still in sweetness all their ownK
Embalm'd by fame undying lastL
-
Yes Erin shine alone the fameM
Or if thy bard have shared the crownN
From thee the borrow'd glory cameM
And at thy feet is now laid downN
Enough if Freedom still inspireO
His latest song and still there beP
As evening closes round his lyreO
One ray upon its chords from theeP
