Rings And Seals Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGG HHEEIJCKLLFFEEMMEENN OO

Go said the angry weeping maidA
The charm is broken once betrayedA
Never can this wronged heart relyB
On word or look on oath or sighB
Take back the gifts so fondly givenC
With promised faith and vows to heavenC
That little ring which night and mornD
With wedded truth my hand hath wornD
That seal which oft in moments blestE
Thou hast upon my lip imprestE
And sworn its sacred spring should beF
A fountain sealed for only theeF
Take take them back the gift and vowG
All sullied lost and hateful nowG
-
I took the ring the seal I tookH
While oh her every tear and lookH
Were such as angels look and shedE
When man is by the world misledE
Gently I whispered Fanny dearI
Not half thy lover's gifts are hereJ
Say where are all the kisses givenC
From morn to noon from noon to evenK
Those signets of true love worth moreL
Than Solomon's own seal of yoreL
Where are those gifts so sweet so manyF
Come dearest give back all if anyF
While thus I whispered trembling tooE
Lest all the nymph had sworn was trueE
I saw a smile relenting riseM
Mid the moist azure of her eyesM
Like daylight o'er a sea of blueE
While yet in mid air hangs the dewE
She let her cheek repose on mineN
She let my arms around her twineN
One kiss was half allowed and thenO
The ring and seal were hers againO
