Peace And Glory Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBCDEFE GHGHIIII GJGJKLKL MNMNKOKO

WRITTEN ON THE APPROACH OF WARA
-
-
Where is now the smile that lightenedB
Every hero's couch of restC
Where is now the hope that brightenedB
Honor's eye and Pity's breastC
Have we lost the wreath we braidedD
For our weary warrior menE
Is the faithless olive fadedF
Must the bay be plucked againE
-
Passing hour of sunny weatherG
Lovely in your light awhileH
Peace and Glory wed togetherG
Wandered through our blessed isleH
And the eyes of Peace would glistenI
Dewy as a morning sunI
When the timid maid would listenI
To the deeds her chief had doneI
-
Is their hour of dalliance overG
Must the maiden's trembling feetJ
Waft her from her warlike loverG
To the desert's still retreatJ
Fare you well with sighs we banishK
Nymph so fair and guests so brightL
Yet the smile with which you vanishK
Leaves behind a soothing lightL
-
Soothing light that long shall sparkleM
O'er your warrior's sanguined wayN
Through the field where horrors darkleM
Shedding hope's consoling rayN
Long the smile his heart will cherishK
To its absent idol trueO
While around him myriads perishK
Glory still will sigh for youO
