One Bumper At Parting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEFGHGH IJIJGKGKGHGH LMLMLNLNGHGH

One bumper at parting though manyA
Have circled the board since we metB
The fullest the saddest of anyA
Remains to be crown'd by us yetB
The sweetness that pleasure hath in itC
Is always so slow to come forthD
That seldom alas till the minuteE
It dies do we know half its worthF
But come may our life's happy measureG
Be all of such moments made upH
They're born on the bosom of PleasureG
Thy die 'midst the tears of the cupH
-
As onward we journey how pleasantI
To pause and inhabit awhileJ
Those few sunny spots like the presentI
That 'mid the dull wilderness smileJ
But Time like a pitiless masterG
Cries Onward and spurs the gay hoursK
Ah never doth Time travel fasterG
Than when his way lies among flowersK
But come may our life's happy measureG
Be all of such moments made upH
They're born on the bosom of PleasureG
They die 'midst the tears of the cupH
-
We saw how the sun look'd in sinkingL
The waters beneath him how brightM
And now let our farewell of drinkingL
Resemble that farewell of lightM
You saw how he finish'd by dartingL
His beam o'er a deep billow's brimN
So fill up let's shine at our partingL
In full liquid glory like himN
And oh may our life's happy measureG
Of moments like this be made upH
'Twas born on the bosom of PleasureG
It dies 'mid the tears of the cupH
