Oh Fair! Oh Purest! Saint Augustine To His Sister. (air.--moore) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEAA FFEEGGHHAA

Oh fair oh purest be thou the doveA
That flies alone to some sunny groveB
And lives unseen and bathes her wingC
All vestal white in the limpid springC
There if the hovering hawk be nearD
That limpid spring in its mirror clearD
Reflects him ere he reach his preyE
And warns the timorous bird awayE
Be thou this doveA
Fairest purest be thou this doveA
-
The sacred pages of God's own bookF
Shall be the spring the eternal brookF
In whose holy mirror night and dayE
Thou'lt study Heaven's reflected rayE
And should the foes of virtue dareG
With gloomy wing to seek thee thereG
Thou wilt see how dark their shadows lieH
Between Heaven and thee and trembling flyH
Be thou that doveA
Fairest purest be thou that doveA
