Odes Of Anacreon - Ode Xxiv Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEEFFGH EEIIJKEEII

To all that breathe the air of heavenA
Some boon of strength has Nature givenA
In forming the majestic bullB
She fenced with wreathed horns his skullC
A hoof of strength she lent the steedD
And winged the timorous hare with speedD
She gave the lion fangs of terrorE
And o'er the ocean's crystal mirrorE
Taught the unnumbered scaly throngF
To trace their liquid path alongF
While for the umbrage of the groveG
She plumed the warbling world of loveH
-
To man she gave in that proud hourE
The boon of intellectual powerE
Then what oh woman what for theeI
Was left in Nature's treasuryI
She gave thee beauty mightier farJ
Than all the pomp and power of warK
Nor steel nor fire itself hath powerE
Like woman in her conquering hourE
Be thou but fair mankind adore theeI
Smile and a world is weak before theeI
