One day the Muses twined the handsB
Of infant Love with flowery bandsB
And to celestial Beauty gaveC
The captive infant for her slaveC
His mother comes with many a toyD
To ransom her beloved boyD
His mother sues but all in vainE
He ne'er will leave his chains againF
Even should they take his chains awayG
The little captive still would stayG
If this he cries a bondage beH
Oh who could wish for libertyH
