As late I sought the spangled bowers | B |
To cull a wreath of matin flowers | B |
Where many an early rose was weeping | C |
I found the urchin Cupid sleeping | C |
I caught the boy a goblet's tide | D |
Was richly mantling by my side | D |
I caught him by his downy wing | C |
And whelmed him in the racy spring | C |
Then drank I down the poisoned bowl | E |
And love now nestles in my soul | E |
Oh yes my soul is Cupid's nest | F |
I feel him fluttering in my breast | F |
