Whose was the artist hand that spreadB
Upon this disk the ocean's bedB
And in a flight of fancy highC
As aught on earthly wing can flyC
Depicted thus in semblance warmD
The Queen of Love's voluptuous formD
Floating along the silvery seaE
In beauty's naked majestyE
Oh he hath given the enamoured sightF
A witching banquet of delightF
Where gleaming through the waters clearG
Glimpses of undreamt charms appearG
And all that mystery loves to screenH
Fancy like Faith adores unseenH
-
Light as a leaf that on the breezeI
Of summer skims the glassy seasI
She floats along the ocean's breastJ
Which undulates in sleepy restJ
While stealing on she gently pillowsK
Her bosom on the heaving billowsK
Her bosom like the dew washed roseK
Her neck like April's sparkling snowsK
Illume the liquid path she tracesL
And burn within the stream's embracesM
Thus on she moves in languid prideN
Encircled by the azure tideN
As some fair lily o'er a bedB
Of violets bends its graceful headB
-
Beneath their queen's inspiring glanceO
The dolphins o'er the green sea danceO
Bearing in triumph young DesireP
And infant Love with smiles of fireP
While glittering through the silver wavesQ
The tenants of the briny cavesQ
Around the pomp their gambols playR
And gleam along the watery wayR
