O'donohue's Mistress Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDBEEB FFBGGB DDBDDB HHBIIB

Of all the fair months that round the sunA
In light link'd dance their circles runA
Sweet May shine thou for meB
For still when thy earliest beams ariseC
That youth who beneath the blue lake liesC
Sweet May returns to meB
-
Of all the bright haunts where daylight leavesD
Its lingering smile on golden evesD
Fair lake thou'rt dearest to meB
For when the last April sun grows dimE
Thy Naiads prepare his steed for himE
Who dwells bright lake in theeB
-
Of all the proud steeds that ever boreF
Young plumed Chiefs on sea or shoreF
White Steed most joy to theeB
Who still with the first young glance of springG
From under that glorious lake dost bringG
My love my chief to meB
-
While white as the sail some bark unfurlsD
When newly launch'd thy long mane curlsD
Fair Steed as white and freeB
And spirits from all the lake's deep bowersD
Glide o'er the blue wave scattering flowersD
Around my love and theeB
-
Of all the sweet deaths that maidens dieH
Whose lovers beneath the cold wave lieH
Most sweet that death will beB
Which under the next May evening's lightI
When thou and thy steed are lost to sightI
Dear love I'll die for theeB
