Let Erin Remember The Days Of Old Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCBCB DEDEFBFB

Let Erin remember the days of oldA
Ere her faithless sons betray'd herB
When Malachi wore the collar of goldA
Which he won from her proud invaderB
When her kings with standard of green unfurl'dC
Led the Red Branch Knights to dangerB
Ere the emerald gem of the western worldC
Was set in the crown of a strangerB
-
On Lough Neagh's bank as the fisherman straysD
When the clear cold eve's decliningE
He sees the round towers of other daysD
In the wave beneath him shiningE
Thus shall memory often in dreams sublimeF
Catch a glimpse of the days that are overB
Thus sighing look through the waves of timeF
For the long faded glories they coverB
