In Myrtle Wreaths. By Alcaeus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD CE EDDDD

In myrtle wreaths my votive sword I'll coverA
Like them of old whose one immortal blowB
Struck off the galling fetters that hung overA
Their own bright land and laid her tyrant lowB
Yes loved Harmodius thou'rt undyingC
Still midst the brave and freeD
In isles o'er ocean lyingC
Thy home shall ever beD
-
In myrtle leaves my sword shall hide its lightningC
Like his the youth whose ever glorious bladeE
Leapt forth like flame the midnight banquet brightening '-
And in the dust a despot victim laidE
Blest youths how bright in Freedom's storyD
Your wedded names shall beD
A tyrant's death your gloryD
Your meed a nation freeD
