How Lightly Mounts The Muse's Wing. (air--anonymous.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCB DBDB EBEB FGFG

How lightly mounts the Muse's wingA
Whose theme is in the skiesB
Like morning larks that sweeter singA
The nearer Heaven they riseB
-
Tho' love his magic lyre may tuneC
Yet ah the flowers he round it wreathesB
Were plucked beneath pale Passion's moonC
Whose madness in their ode breathesB
-
How purer far the sacred luteD
Round which Devotion tiesB
Sweet flowers that turn to heavenly fruitD
And palm that never diesB
-
Tho' War's high sounding harp may beE
Most welcome to the hero's earsB
Alas his chords of victoryE
Are wet all o'er with human tearsB
-
How far more sweet their numbers runF
Who hymn like Saints aboveG
No victor but the Eternal OneF
No trophies but of LoveG
