From This Hour The Pledge Is Given Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDCD EFEGHIHIHI

From this hour the pledge is givenA
From this hour my soul is thineB
Come what will from earth of heavenA
Weal or woe thy fate be mineB
When the proud and great stood by theeC
None dared thy rights to spurnD
And if now they're false and fly theeC
Shall I too falsely turnD
No whate'er the fire that try theeC
In the same this heart shall burnD
-
Though the sea where thou embarkestE
Offers now no friendly shoreF
Light may come where all looks darkestE
Hope hath life when life seems o'erG
And of those past ages dreamingH
When glory deck'd thy browI
Oft I fondly think though seemingH
So fallen and clouded nowI
Thou'lt again break forth all beamingH
None so bright so blest as thouI
