Fragment Of A Mythological Hymn To Love.[1] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD CEDAFGFG HIHI JGGKKJALM MANLNOOPP

Blest infant of eternityA
Before the day star learned to moveB
In pomp of fire along his grand careerC
Glancing the beamy shafts of lightD
-
From his rich quiver to the farthest sphereC
Thou wert alone oh LoveE
Nestling beneath the wings of ancient NightD
Whose horrors seemed to smile in shadowing theeA
No form of beauty soothed thine eyeF
As through the dim expanse it wandered wideG
No kindred spirit caught thy sighF
As o'er the watery waste it lingering diedG
-
Unfelt the pulse unknown the powerH
That latent in his heart was sleepingI
Oh Sympathy that lonely hourH
Saw Love himself thy absence weepingI
-
But look what glory through the darkness beamsJ
Celestial airs along the water glideG
What Spirit art thou moving o'er the tideG
So beautiful oh not of earthK
But in that glowing hour the birthK
Of the young Godhead's own creative dreamsJ
'Tis sheA
Psyche the firstborn spirit of the airL
To thee oh Love she turnsM
-
On thee her eyebeam burnsM
Blest hour before all worlds ordained to beA
They meetN
The blooming god the spirit fairL
Meet in communion sweetN
Now Sympathy the hour is thineO
All Nature feels the thrill divineO
The veil of Chaos is withdrawnP
And their first kiss is great Creation's dawnP
