Fallen Is Thy Throne. (air.--martini.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGHGIDJD FKLKMNMN MOPOQRQR

Fallen is thy Throne oh IsraelA
Silence is o'er thy plainsB
Thy dwellings all lie desolateC
Thy children weep in chainsB
Where are the dews that fed theeD
On Etham's barren shoreE
That fire from Heaven which led theeD
Now lights thy path no moreE
-
LORD thou didst love JerusalemF
Once she was all thy ownG
Her love thy fairest heritageH
Her power thy glory's throneG
Till evil came and blightedI
Thy long loved olive treeD
And Salem's shrines were lightedJ
For other gods than TheeD
-
Then sunk the star of SolymaF
Then past her glory's dayK
Like heath that in the wildernessL
The wild wind whirls awayK
Silent and waste her bowersM
Where once the mighty trodN
And sunk those guilty towersM
While Baal reign'd as GodN
-
Go said the LORD Ye ConquerorsM
Steep in her blood your swordsO
And raze to earth her battlementsP
For they are not the LORD'SO
Till Zion's mournful daughterQ
O'er kindred bones shall treadR
And Hinnom's vale of slaughterQ
Shall hide but half her deadR
