As Vanquish'd Erin Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EBFBGHIH JBKBLBMB

As vanquish'd Erin wept besideA
The Boyne's ill fated riverB
She saw where Discord in the tideA
Had dropp'd his loaded quiverB
Lie hid she cried ye venom'd dartsC
Where mortal eye may shun youD
Lie hid the stain of manly heartsC
That bled for me is on youD
-
But vain her wish her weeping vainE
As Time too well hath taught herB
Each year the Fiend returns againF
And dives into that waterB
And brings triumphant from beneathG
His shafts of desolationH
And sends them wing'd with worse than deathI
Through all her maddening nationH
-
Alas for her who sits and mournsJ
Even now beside that riverB
Unwearied still the Fiend returnsK
And stored is still his quiverB
When will this end ye Powers of GoodL
She weeping asks for everB
But only hears from out that floodM
The Demon answer NeverB
