A Sad Case Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB CCDDEFGGHHIICCJJKKLL MMMM NNOOPQAAAARRAA SSTT

If it be the undergraduate season at which this rabies religiosa is to be so fearful what security has Mr Goulburn against it at this moment when his son is actually exposed to the full venom of an association with DissentersA
The Times MarchB
-
-
How sad a case just think of itC
If Goulburn junior should be bitC
By some insane Dissenter roamingD
Thro' Granta's halls at large and foamingD
And with that aspect ultra crabbedE
Which marks Dissenters when they're rabidF
God only knows what mischiefs mightG
Result from this one single biteG
Or how the venom once suckt inH
Might spread and rage thro' kith and kinH
Mad folks of all denominationsI
First turn upon their own relationsI
So that one Goulburn fairly bitC
Might end in maddening the whole kitC
Till ah ye gods we'd have to rueJ
Our Goulburn senior bitten tooJ
The Hychurchphobia in those veinsK
Where Tory blood now redly reignsK
And that dear man who now perceivesL
Salvation only in lawn sleevesL
Might tainted by such coarse infectionM
Run mad in the opposite directionM
And think poor man 'tis only givenM
To linsey woolsey to reach HeavenM
-
Just fancy what a shock 'twould beN
Our Goulburn in his fits to seeN
Tearing into a thousand particlesO
His once loved Nine and Thirty ArticlesO
Those Articles his friend the DukeP
For Gospel t'other night mistookQ
Cursing cathedrals deans and singersA
Wishing the ropes might hang the ringersA
Pelting the church with blasphemiesA
Even worse than Parson Beverley'sA
And ripe for severing Church and StateR
Like any creedless reprobateR
Or like that class of MethodistsA
Prince Waterloo styles AtheistsA
-
But 'tis too much the Muse turns paleS
And o'er the picture drops a veilS
Praying God save the Goulburns allT
From mad Dissenters great and smallT
