A Ghost Story. To The Air Of "unfortunate Miss Bailey." Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEEBBE FBFBGHGHIIJJI KLKLMNONEEPPE

Not long in bed had Lyndhurst lainA
When as his lamp burned dimlyB
The ghosts of corporate bodies slainA
Stood by his bedside grimlyB
Dead aldermen who once could feastC
But now themselves are fed onD
And skeletons of mayors deceasedC
This doleful chorus led onD
Oh Lord LyndhurstE
Unmerciful Lord LyndhurstE
Corpses weB
All burkt by theeB
Unmerciful Lord LyndhurstE
-
Avaunt ye frights his Lordship criedF
Ye look most glum and whitelyB
Ah Lyndhurst dear the frights repliedF
You've used us unpolitelyB
And now ungrateful man to driveG
Dead bodies from your door soH
Who quite corrupt enough aliveG
You've made by death still more soH
Oh Ex ChancellorI
Destructive Ex ChancellorI
See thy workJ
Thou second BurkeJ
Destructive Ex ChancellorI
-
Bold Lyndhurst then whom naught could keepK
Awake or surely that wouldL
Cried Curse you all fell fast asleepK
And dreamt of Small v AttwoodL
While shockt the bodies flew downstairsM
But courteous in their panicN
Precedence gave to ghosts of mayorsO
And corpses aldermanicN
Crying Oh Lord LyndhurstE
That terrible Lord LyndhurstE
Not Old ScratchP
Himself could matchP
That terrible Lord LyndhurstE
