Rhyme Scheme: A BCDCECEEFB GHGIJKJKFB

Act I scene linesA
-
-
-
Poor old pilgrim MiseryB
Beneath the silent moon he sateC
A listening to the screech owl's cryD
And the cold wind's goblin prateC
Beside him lay his staff of yewE
With withered willow twinedC
His scant grey hair all wet with dewE
His cheeks with grief ybrinedE
And his cry it was ever alackF
Alack and woe is meB
-
Anon a wanton imp astrayG
His piteous moaning hearsH
And from his bosom steals awayG
His rosary of tearsI
With his plunder fled that urchin elfJ
And hid it in your eyesK
Then tell me back the stolen pelfJ
Give up the lawless prizeK
Or your cry shall be ever alackF
Alack and woe is meB
