The Conformers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCBC DEFEEGEG HIHIIJIJ KLKLLMLM

Yes we'll wed my little fayA
And you shall write you mineB
And in a villa chastely grayA
We'll house and sleep and dineB
But those night screened divineB
Stolen trysts of heretoforeC
We of choice ecstasies and fineB
Shall know no moreC
-
The formal faced cohueD
Will then no more upbraidE
With smiting smiles and whisperings twoF
Who have thrown less loves in shadeE
We shall no more evadeE
The searching light of the sunG
Our game of passion will be playedE
Our dreaming doneG
-
We shall not go in stealthH
To rendezvous unknownI
But friends will ask me of your healthH
And you about my ownI
When we abide aloneI
No leapings each to eachJ
But syllables in frigid toneI
Of household speechJ
-
When down to dust we glideK
Men will not say askanceL
As now How all the country sideK
Rings with their mad romanceL
But as they graveward glanceL
Remark In them we loseM
A worthy pair who helped advanceL
Sound parish viewsM
