Julie-jane Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KEKE ALAL MNMN

Sing how 'a would singA
How 'a would raise the tuneB
When we rode in the waggon from harvestingA
By the light o' the moonB
-
Dance how 'a would danceC
If a fiddlestring did but soundD
She would hold out her coats give a slanting glanceC
And go round and roundD
-
Laugh how 'a would laughE
Her peony lips would partF
As if none such a place for a lover to quaffE
At the deeps of a heartF
-
Julie O girl of joyG
Soon soon that lover he cameH
Ah yes and gave thee a baby boyG
But never his nameH
-
Tolling for her as you guessI
And the baby too 'Tis wellJ
You knew her in maidhood likewise YesI
That's her burial bellJ
-
I suppose with a laugh she saidK
I should blush that I'm not a wifeE
But how can it matter so soon to be deadK
What one does in lifeE
-
When we sat making the mourningA
By her death bed side said sheL
Dears how can you keep from your lovers adorningA
In honour of meL
-
Bubbling and brightsome eyedM
But now O never againN
She chose her bearers before she diedM
From her fancy menN
